Maria Grace Talarico

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Maria Grace Talarico on February 16, 2021 at the age of 83 years.

Maria will forever remain in the hearts of her children Isabel (Terry), Jensa (Merle), John (Betty), and Angelo; grandchildren Jennifer (Mark), Amanda (Cody), Laura, and Joel; great grandchildren Max, Oz, and Ava; as well as her brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews. Maria was born in Italy in 1937, the third of twelve children.

She was married in 1954 and was blessed with two daughters while in Italy. In 1960 the family emmigrated to Canada and moved to Fernie, BC. While in Fernie they were blessed with two sons. She worked in restaurants and made amazing pies. In 1979 Maria moved to Calgary, where her two daughters were living. Maria felt fortunate to get a job at the Alberta Children’s Hospital and she loved being part of a wonderful hospital and making many friends there. She was also a very active member of the Saint Michael’s Catholic Parish, and once retired, she devoted most of her time at the church.

Maria loved to cook spaghetti and meat balls for many different events at Saint Michael’s Church. She enjoyed knitting slippers for everyone and crocheting many blankets and shawls for family, friends, and the church. Her most treasured time was with her three children here in Calgary and her son in Kelowna. She was blessed to have three granddaughters, one grandson, two great grandsons and one great granddaughter.

Thank you to all the wonderful staff at Intercare Chinook Care Centre for taking such treasured care and love of Maria over the past year and a half.

A private Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Saint Michaels Catholic Parish on Tuesday February 23, 2021 at 2:00 P.M.  

In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Canadian Diabetes Society or Alzheimer Society of Canada.
