Margo Pattemore Obituary

It is with profound sadness that the Pattemore family wishes to announce the death of Margo Violet Pattemore on October 3, 2024. Margo passed peacefully at home with her family by her side.

Margo was born in London, England on June 15, 1920. She lived a long and interesting life and will be remembered by many for her charm and indomitable spirit.

Margo lived in London until after WWII. She survived the London Blitz but not without suffering personal tragedy with the loss of two of her sisters. Sometime during this period she met and married a Canadian soldier whom she had a son with, Richard Hannesson. Margo emigrated to Canada as a ‘war bride’ and she eventually settled in Vancouver, BC.

It is here that she met her second husband Bill Pattemore. Notably, they were both working at a car dealership in Vancouver and an office romance turned into a move to Calgary where Bill had an opportunity to buy Metro Ford in 1963. After his death Margo became the first female Ford Dealer Principle.

Margo was actively involved for 5 years in this position during which time she received the Woman of Distinction Award from the YWCA.

Margo and Bill had two children, Reg and Angie Pattemore. Margo was an active and involved parent who combined motherhood with many charitable endeavours.

Margo thrived in her role as a grandmother and we think this was the role that she cherished the most.

Margo was predeceased by her parents, sisters, and her husband Bill Pattemore. She is survived by her children Richard Hannesson, Reg Pattemore (Ann), and Angie Pattemore. She will also be greatly missed by her grandchildren Liam Pattemore,  Victoria Pattemore, Cody Pattemore, Kristyn Pattemore, and Christopher Hannesson.

The family would like to express sincere gratitude to all the staff at Fountains of Mission, and especially Nancy Dicken, for their loving care of Margo. We also appreciate the attention of Jocelyn from AHS and the Home Care workers, Kim from Preventous Medical, and the team at Calgary Palliative Homecare.

Margo will be interred at a private family burial.
