Margaret Elizabeth Shaw

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Margaret Elizabeth Shaw, affectionately known as Liz, on August 25, 2026, at the age of 68.

Liz was born in Kingston, Ontario on May 22, 1958. She was one of ten children born to Margaret and Albert Shaw, both of whom have passed. She was also predeceased by her brothers Patrick and Christopher Shaw. She leaves behind Mary Zak (Roman), Michael Shaw, Rita Zak (Rik), David Shaw (Oksana), Bernadette Finzel (Rick), Madelaine Wong (James) and Robert Shaw (Robyn) and extended family.

Liz was on the autism spectrum and spent many years in the care of Supported Lifestyles with loving staff. They and her roommates are also left to mourn her.

She was a woman who loved the simple things in life: spending time with family and friends, going for walks, swimming, dancing, listening to music, and going for coffee. In her final years, Liz was struck with a degenerative neurological condition, but she never lost her love of life. She still excitedly awaited visits from her loved ones. Liz will be missed by many people.

A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Albert the Great Catholic Church (10 Prestwick Dr SE, Calgary, AB) on Tuesday, September 8, 2026 at 11:00 am.
