Lorraine Shirley Edmonds

Lorraine Edmonds of Calgary passed away at Peter Lougheed Hospital on Friday, August 29, 2025, at the age of 82 years.

She was the world’s most amazing mother to Christina of Calgary, Catherine (d. Russ) of Calgary, Ronald (Jen) of Cayley, Barrie (Kathi) of High River, and Raymond (Sharon) of Calgary.

Lorraine will forever remain in the hearts of her grandchildren, Trevor (Jenne), Sara (Justin), Stephanie (James), Corey (Taleena), Charles (Sara), Cameron (Alyssa), Caitlin (Ryan), Chris, Dakota, Haylee, Maddie, Cheyanne, Shelbie (Terrance), McCall (Brooklin), Quinton, and Jo.

Her great-grandchildren Shane, Alexander, Jacob, Mia, Ashton, Kayley, Aiden, Isabella, Jazmine, Jessica, Oliver, Brittney, Adalyn, Ryker, Jaxson, Ronin, Eliza, Blayke, Andrew, and Elliott.

Lorraine was born on January 21, 1943 in Kelvington, Saskatchewan, sharing her birthday with her twin brother, Leslie.

Lorraine worked many jobs in her lifetime. She was a security guard, cleaned airplanes, and a nighttime cleaner at Mount Royal College, as well as a cleaner at Shamrock Hotel. She retired at age 65 from her job at McDonalds as a hostess.

Lorraine had a rough childhood and shared many heartbreaking stories of those times with her loved ones. She overcame her childhood struggle to become a beautiful and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She loved to do things with her family from hockey games with her sons, brownies with her daughters, and camping with her family with add ons; we always had friends tag along.

Lorraine lost the love of her life Ronald in 2020 after 57 years of marriage. She continued her love for family with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and everyone she loved. She was available and willing to help when her family was struggling.

Everyone who was in Lorraine’s life knew what an amazing and strong women she was. She will be missed and will always be in our hearts.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Evan J. Strong Funeral Services North (3625 12 Street NE) on Friday, September 12, 2025 from 12:00 - 3:00 pm.
