Lorne Stanley Carlson P. Eng Obituary

Lorne was born on June 16, 1944 in the town of Alliance, Alberta to Raymond and Pearl Carlson. He was the youngest of 5 children and leaves behind his brother and sisters: Delores(Del), Gilbert(Gil)(Sharon), Loretta(George), and Carroll(Claire). For the first 11 years of his life he lived in the small town of Donalda, Alberta and then the family moved to Red Deer where he completed junior high and high school. He was very active in sports throughout his school years.

Upon completion of high school, he attended NAIT’s Electrical Technician’s Program and worked in that field in the Arctic for a few years. He then entered the University of Alberta and attained his B. of Sc. Degree in Electrical Engineering. He had a lengthy career and worked on many projects, including several in the Oil Industry until he retired as a Sr. Project Engineer. He was very dedicated to his career.

Lorne met his loving wife Lorraine at the University and they married upon Graduation. They shared a very long happy life together and would have celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary this July. During their marriage Lorne and Lorraine adopted 3 children: Karen(Kevin), Beth(Steve), and Nicholas: and have 5 grandchildren Addy, Jay, Ty, Nola, and Naava. He was a very loving and caring husband, father, and grandfather.

Lorne was a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus and served in several positions over the years including Grand Knight. In addition, he served as a Eucharistic Minister for many many years at St. Gerard’s Church.

Lorne spent many years dealing with several long term health issues: heart disease, diabetes, and more recently kidney disease. He was very diligent in managing his health issues for decades. Lorne passed away on April 14, 2022 at Rockyview Hospital due to sudden kidney failure. Lorne received excellent care from all of the staff in the ICU. He will be forever loved and forever missed by his family.
