Lois Gorgichuk Obituary

At the grand age of 90, it is with great sadness that we inform you of the loss of our beloved mother, Lois.  Lois passed away peacefully in her sleep, with family at her side on September 28, 2020.

A life so beautifully lived deserves to be beautifully remembered.  Born, April 29th, 1930, in Swift Current Saskatchewan, she was married to our dear father, Oryst Dan Gorgichuk (July 12, 1957) for 60 years. Loving mother to Allison (Adrian van Monsjou) and Carla (Walter Remondini).  Cherished by her four grandchildren, Taylor, Alexandra (Alex), Alexander and Austin.

Lois was a kind, caring and generous soul.  After marrying Ory, she willingly followed along with the 35 moves they made to accomodate work in the oil exploration industry in Alberta, BC and Saskatchewan.  At the age of 52, she and Ory set off on an adventure to Saudi Arabia for 10 years to round out the oil exploration career.  In retirement, they returned to Alberta to be closer to family.

Together, and as a family, they enjoyed much time on the golf course, on the mountain slopes skiing, camping, fishing and travelling the world. Lois was also a passionate reader, enjoyed sewing, quilting, other crafts, baking and a good game of scrabble or a card game.  Lois was in good general health up until the final weeks of her life, when she contracted pneumonia and was unable to overcome it.

Special thanks to Dr. C. Gittens and Nurse Angie, Palliative Care as well as the very kind and caring nursing staff from unit 73, Rockyview Hospital in Calgary. They treated our mother as one of their own.  We will be forever grateful.

Cremation is to take place with a small private family Celebration of Life at a later date in a safer time.  Kindly, take a moment to honour our dear mother in your own special way.  We very much appreciate it.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to "Parkinson Association of Alberta" in her memory, as she cared for my father who battled this disease for years.
