Linda Joyce Russell

Linda Russell was born in Calgary and spent most of her life there, except for a number of years in Edmonton where she completed her schooling (Junior High, High School, RN and University). She had a long and successful career as a nurse beginning with the completion of her RN diploma in 1976 at the University of Alberta Hospital. By 1983, she had earned her post-RN B.Sc. in nursing, also from the University of Alberta. Later, from 1989 to 1991, Linda took courses towards a Masters degree in nursing from the University of Calgary.

Linda had an exemplary and varied employment record as a nurse, including the following positions: RN/Supervisor for Calgary Family Services Caregiver Program; Nurse for the Calgary Health Authority at Rockyview General Hospital, Unit 47-Acute Medicine & Endocrinology; Assistant Patient Care Manager at Rockyview General Hospital; Site Manager, Alberta Health Services, Foothills Medical Centre; Supervisor/Registered Nurse, Calgary Family Services Caregiver Program; Nursing Unit Manager (Ambulatory Care), Calgary General Hospital; Staff Nurse, Southern Alberta Cardiac Rehabilitation Program, Calgary General Hospital; Staff Nurse, Coronary ICU, Foothills Medical Centre; Staff Nurse, Medical & Surgical Cardiovascular Unit, Holy Cross Hospital; Casual Staff Nurse, Alberta Health Services; Staff Nurse, ICU, Peter Lougheed Centre; Staff Nurse, General Surgery Teaching Unit, University of Alberta Hospital; Casual Nurse, Intercare Brentwood Care Centre, Calgary; Health Management Nurse and Nurse Manager, Crowfoot Village Family Practice, Calgary; Clinical Instructor, School of Nursing, Mount Royal University.

Linda is survived by her two cousins Bruce Hilton (Calgary) and Don Hilton (Fonthill, ON) and their families. Linda’s ashes will be interred at a later date in her parents’ grave plot at Burnsland Cemetery, Calgary.

A Graveside Service will be held on Friday, August 2, 2024 at 10:00 a.m., at Burnsland Cemetery, Calgary, Lot 27, Block 3, Section C.
