Lawrence Wade McMaster Natkotomahkan (DoubleRunner) September 27, 1972 - July 7, 2025
On July 7, 2025 a great man graduated from this mortal existence at 52 years of age onto the higher life. He will be forever remembered by his family Donna and his precious daughters Zoe and Cameron. His mother Laverna (Wayne), nieces Danielle and Maddison (Liam), nephew Samuel, great niece Arrow; brother Cory Smith. Aunties and Uncles: Stan, Delia, Myrna, Faron, Lydia (Ira), Harlon (Carmen), Mandi (Tuffy) and Frank Born With a Tooth (Marsha); Great uncle Herman (Ida) Duck Chief; Great aunties Marie Healy and Jackie Duck Chief (Clarence); and a myriad of cousins, friends and relatives. Lawrence was preceded in death by his sisters Dayna and Kim and his father Sammy Born With a Tooth. His uncles Eddie and Durante. His cousin Stanley (Junior), and his basketball brother Shay Yellow Horn.
Lawrence was an exceptional athlete playing many sports but basketball was his passion. He was an avid long distance runner in his younger years and ran with the Deerfoot Raiders running club. He played 2nd base and centre field with his famous family baseball team the Blackfoot Express. His remarkable ability won him many accolades. His competitive spirit and love for the game of basketball took him across North America, meeting people and making life long friendships on and off the court. Lawrence was outgoing, humorous, and genuine. He loved nothing more than being with his family, whether it be watching a game of basketball or football or sharing stories of past times, playing board games or card games and sharing a hearty laugh. Lawrence was also very fond of his godchildren; Ashford, Lanny, Rance, Brittney, and Latesha.
He will live on through each of us as we carry on his legacy and spirit. He was an inspiration to all, now he is at peace.
He was the grandson of Mary-Jane and Lawrence Born With a Tooth. Ann and Levitt McMaster, great grandson of Rosario and Emily Duck Chief and the great-great grandson of Chief John Duck Chief.
