With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Laurence Alay, of Calgary on Friday, February 3, 2023 at the age of 69 years.
Laurence Tabaco Alay was a man who loved the Lord, and was a devoted husband, father, brother, uncle, and Lolo. He was born and raised in the Philippines and the oldest of five children. He achieved Bachelor of Science in Commerce, Major in Business Administration at Foundation University of Dumaguete, Philippines. He was employed for twenty years in camp relations Department with an American Co., Del Monte Philippines, Inc. Laurence's siblings remember him as a responsible and caring brother. He was married to his wife of over 45 years and was blessed with three children.
Laurence was a simple man with a modest dream , which is to provide for his family. He moved to Canada with his family in 1998 and resided mostly in Surrey, B.C. In his spare time, he enjoys reading books, finding a quiet place to enjoy a cup of coffee and he enjoys getting together with friends and singing karaoke.
Laurence is a proud and dedicated fourth degree member of the Knights of Columbus. He participated in numerous fundraising events, to enrich his community. He is loved by many people from his family in Canada and extends to his birth Country, the Philippines.
Laurence brought so much joy to our lives that his laughter will always echo in our hearts, while his singing will ease our sorrows. We love you Papa, Popot, and Lolo.
Laurence's Celebration of Life will be held at St. Gerard's Church (8944 Elbow Drive SW, Calgary, Alberta) on Feb. 10, 2023, at 11:00 am. He will be laid to rest at St. Mary's Cemetery in Calgary, Alberta.
