Larry Miller Obituary

Larry William Miller passed away unexpectedly at his residence in Calgary, on March 10, 2019 at the age of 67 years.

Larry was born on February 26, 1952 in Edmonton, Alberta, the son Charles Amos and Genevieve Olga (Nazarevich) Miller. He graduated high school from Bowness High in 1970. Larry married Debbie MacWheenie and they had one son, Lance Liberty Miller. In 1976 he remarried to Janice Peil and they had two children, Leslie Michael and Laura Ann Miller. They were married until 1985.

Larry started working for the City of Calgary in 1972, and then began his career with the Calgary Zoo in 1974. He remained there until his retirement in 2017. Larry dedicated his entire life to the care and conservation of the animals he had in his care. He made sure that each person he met never left without an education on animal husbandry.

In addition to his parents, Larry was predeceased by his son Leslie Michael Miller. He is survived by his son Lance (Kristen) of Olds, Alberta, Lance’s seven children and Kristen’s two children; his daughter Laura Boland (Graeme) of Drumheller, Alberta, Laura’s three sons, and Graeme’s three children; and by one great granddaughter.

A Memorial Service will be held at the Enmax Conservatory at the Calgary Zoo (210 St. George’s Drive NE) on Saturday, March 30, 2019 at 1:00pm. For more service information Larrymillermemorial@gmail.com.
