Krista Malden Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Krista Rae-Anne Malden, Rock Star and Storyteller who left this world on Wednesday, November 20, 2024, surrounded by her loved ones. Born on June 16, 1980, Krista’s life was a testament to kindness and community, she was a light that touched everyone she met. Krista was a devoted Mom, Daughter, Sister, Partner and friend whose warmth and generosity were unmatched. Her vibrant personality, her ‘get it done’ attitude, and her unwavering support to those around her left an indelible mark on her community.

A lover of connecting people, Krista found joy in Community Now! Magazine, her work with Design the Shift, her role with Banbury Crossroads School, and her many friendships ignited by storytelling. Krista had a passion for creating collisions between people, industry, and generations. In 2020 she won the Women of Inspiration Cultural Ambassador Award. She lived by her motto, "It Takes a Village." Krista was an artist for her entire life through various pathways. Starting in the music industry as a jazz performer (drummer, piano, composer and vocalist) then proceeding through work in the not-for-profit sector telling stories with young people, teaching others how to express themselves through music, and then through her writing of Community Now! Magazine and books.

Whether it was her quirky personality, her pink hair, or her infectious laugh, she always made a lasting impression on people's hearts. She was a true connector, bringing people together in unique and unexpected ways. Whether it was a community event, a collaboration on a creative project, or simply a chance encounter, Krista had a way of building bridges that inspired trust and friendship. Her ability to weave together stories and people with such authenticity left a ripple effect on everyone she encountered.

Krista is survived by her daughters, Zanika and Xalynn, her mother Kathy, her father David, her brother Dion (Nicole), her partner Tim and countless friends who cherished her spirit..
