It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Kevin Murray Christensen of Calgary, Alberta, who passed away on April 19, 2026, at the age of 62.
Kevin was born on July 8, 1963, at Calgary General Hospital, the son of Howard and Betty Christensen. In elementary school two of his close friends were also named Kevin, so he became known simply as “C.” He attended James Fowler High School, where he enjoyed learning trades. As a junior high student Kevin taught himself to play his sister’s inexpensive acoustic guitar. He spent many years performing locally and touring across Western Canada with the band Nik Danger, before settling back in Calgary.
By trade he worked as a wood refinisher, but music remained his lifelong passion. Kevin played with many musicians around town and at the King Eddy, loved the Beatles, wrote original songs, and accompanied vocalists throughout his life. Kevin met Rose Amar in January 2006. They became parents to two sons, Kristian and Kasey, who were a source of deep pride for him.
Kevin was predeceased by his parents, Howard and Betty, and his brother Daryl. He is survived by Rose Amar; his sons Kristian and Kasey; his brother Colin Christensen (Robyn); his sister Shirley Berry (Bob Ryans); his sister-in-law Sandra; and by nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, and many dear friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Dover Community Hall, 3133 30 Ave SE, Calgary, on May 22, 2026, at 6:30 p.m.
All who knew Kevin are welcome to join the family in remembering his music, his quiet strength, and his generous spirit.
