Kevin David Burrell

Kevin David Burrell, 61, Airdrie AB, formerly of Bedford, NS, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 1, 2024, after his battle with brain cancer.

Kevin faced his cancer as he did with most things in his life, with strength and determination. There wasn’t a study or clinical trial treatment that he didn’t consider. He was so thankful for the moments God had given him and looked forward, with peace and joy, to seeing his Lord and Saviour. Kevin's loves were his family and church. He served as an Elder at New City Church Calgary.

Kevin’s career began with sales and management, but he found his joy when he began doing construction and renovations. He enjoyed working with his hands and creating something beautiful. He was always there to give others advice and enjoyed mentoring and sharing his skills.

Kevin’s skills were not limited to wood and construction, he was an avid barbecuer, enjoyed smoking delicious cuts of meat, roasting his own coffee, and baking. He took great pleasure in making his wife a special cup of coffee every morning.

Kevin was born October 30, 1962, in Halifax NS, and leaves behind his love of his life, Donna (MacLeod). Kevin is survived by his children, John (Kaitlin) of Barneys River NS, Tim of Airdrie AB, and Rebecca (David) Campbell of Lower Sackville NS; his siblings, Debbie (Allan) Davis of New Glasgow NS, Patti of Bedford NS, and Gary (Mariko) of Ho-Ho-Kus, New Jersey.

Grampy will be truly missed by his six grandchildren, Evangeline, Hiram, Calum, Juliana, Winston, and Elizabeth. They were so special to him and his face would light up when he spoke (or bragged!) about them.

He is predeceased by his parents, Jim and Margaret (Patterson) Burrell, and his brother Bruce.

The family would like to thank the staff at Dulcina Hospice for their compassion and kindness they showed Kevin during his stay there.

A Funeral Service was held at Bedford Presbyterian Church (49 Nelsons Landing Blvd, Bedford, NS) on Saturday, October 19, 2024 at 10:00am with Bill Radford and Mike Ivancic officiating.  Private Family Graveside followed in Thomson Station, NS with Wayne MacLeod officiating.

A Celebration of Kevin's Life/Memorial Service will be held in Calgary, AB at Faith Calgary Church (1903 19th Ave NW) on Friday, November 8, 2024 at 3:00 pm.
