"It does not matter who my father was, it matters who I remember he was"
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Kenneth Mezerecky, our father, grandfather and great grandfather at the age of 78. He is survived by his two daughters, Kellie Tymensen (Ralph) and their two children Kera Tymensen Page (Brandon), Taylor Tymensen (Kristin) and their daughter Josephine Rose and Michelle Pedersen (Paul) and their daughters Breanna and Kelsey.
He is also survived by his sisters Jean Jones, Elsien Puskus and brother Walter Mezerecky and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Joseph and Martha, and his brother William 'Bill as well as brothers in laws Carl Jones, Ernie Puskus and sister in law Marlene Mezerecky.
Dad loved camping, puttering about and traveling. His leased lot down at the Canadian Wilderness Recreation, on the oldman dam, was his second home and loved it when the whole family was down there. He loved cooking on the open fire, providing all the fixings for the meal, then resting during clean up time. He drove up to Alaska/Northwest Territories twice, pulling his fifth wheel. I think he was so glad to be home after being gone close to two months on his first time, he came right over to our house to share his adventure. Going out to the East Coast was another adventure, with the trip being delayed due to a hurricane.
Dad loved cats, always calling to check on them first, before asking how the rest of us were doing. He loved his MIdnight - he was our Alistair Midnight, our black cat with 6 white hairs on his chest. We bought a stuffed black cat for Dad, so he could have his own Midnight. Dad took very good care of Midnight, sharing conversations with him and making sure he had a good view out his window. Midnight stayed with Dad until the end, and we brought him home to stay with us, always to remember dad and his love for cats.
Dad could always be found with a Calgary Sun in his possession, as well as word find books. He felt it kept him young and was good for his brain.
I think Dad was surprised to discover his love for his grandchildren. Maybe the second time around with kids/grandkids, he was a bit more chilled, seasoned and actually enjoyed them. He particularly loved his LITTLE Kelsey, but we joked she was not little anymore.
We are deeply saddened by Dads passing, we know he is no longer in pain or suffering.
