It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother Katina Anagnostou, who passed away peacefully on October 14, 2025, surrounded by her loving children.
She was predeceased by her husband, Stathi.
Katina was born on September 29, 1940, in the charming Greek village of Kokkinomilea, Evia, Greece, Katina married Stathi, and together they immigrated to Canada in 1968. Despite the challenges of being a new immigrant, she embraced the opportunity to build a life in Canada. Katina worked as a seamstress and later as a physiotherapist assistant. She was a devoted mother and an exceptional homemaker, known for her love of baking and cooking for family and friends. Her famous diples, loukoumades and Taramosalata were always a highlight for those who gathered around her. She loved travelling back to Greece and volunteering at various monasteries.
Katina was an active member of the Greek Community of Calgary, serving as a parishioner of St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church and volunteering with the Philoptohos Society. In her final years, she resided at Bethany Riverview, where she was dearly loved by the staff, who provided her with incredible compassion and care for which her family will be forever grateful!
Katina leaves behind her children, Dave and Maria (Greg), and granddaughters Viviana (Scot) and Katie (Connor), along with many other family and relatives.
