It is with deep sadness we lovingly say goodbye to Mom who passed away peacefully at the Chinook Hospice after a brief but courageous battle with cancer on Thursday, 07 November 2024, at the age of 90 years.
Mom was surrounded by her loving family as she had been throughout her life. She was a true Calgarian, born and raised here in the city she loved. She graduated from Western Canada High School, and it was at ‘Sateen Dances’ and football games where she met the love of her life, Marty. Mom and Dad married in 1955 and began raising their 7 children in a loving and faith-filled home. Mom was very ‘ecumenical’ in her approach to life having lived in Calgary and Edmonton sharing her loving talents to help and build friendship with all she met.
Mom wore many hats; but her primary call was wife, and mother, putting countless hours in as ‘taxi-driver’, for her children in sports, community and school activities. Mom was very active in the communities where she lived and the churches she attended with a strong and vibrant Catholic faith. As a long-time parishioner of St Gerard’s parish; and for the last decade at Holy Name parish, Mom was active in CWL and many other ministries. As a great-great grandmother, Mom (GiGi) was a wonderful presence for the 4 generations of her family. Mom will be sadly and deeply missed here but is now on her glorious journey in Heaven. We love you GiGi.
Mom is survived by a very large loving family; 6 children and spouses Paul(Barb), Terri(Mark), Mark(Linda), Marianne(Richard), Jim(Carolyn), William(Patsy); 21 grand-children Katelyn(John), Amy(Brian), Emma(Jeff), Anne(Daniel), Tom(Melissa), Martin(Chantal), Roseline, Meagan; Cara(Andy), Evy(Brandon), Delyle(Heather); Pamela, James, Brianne, Caitlyn, Vincent, Aurora, Sean, Phil, Jack, George; 31 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-granddaughter; and numerous nieces and nephews in Canada, USA and Europe. She is predeceased by her Parents Herbert and May; Siblings Margret, Anne and Stephen; Husband Martin; son John; grandson Jason; granddaughter Gabriela; and great-grandson Matthew.
