It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden and unexpected passing of Karen MacNeill, just as she was looking forward to her retirement and the years ahead. Karen was taken from us far too soon.
She leaves behind her loving mother, Olive MacNeill, who will miss her dearly. Karen was a cherished sister to Diane MacNeill, Lynda MacNeill, Gail MacNeill, and Terry MacNeill and his wife Jeannie. She is predeceased by her father, Donald MacNeill, and her brother, Dan MacNeill, whose wife Velma lovingly cherishes his memory.
Karen’s legacy lives on through her nieces and nephews: Lisa MacNeill; Mishelle and her husband Youssef, along with their daughter Andriana; Rachel Savioli; Jay Toporowski; Bryan MacNeill and his son Andrew; Dani Hofer; Sean MacNeill and his wife Audrey, along with their children April and Mason.
Karen truly had a special soul. For more than a decade, she devoted much of her time being a companion and source of support for her mother, Olive — a role she embraced and enjoyed. Her heart also belonged to animals, and she poured endless love into rescuing, caring for, and spoiling them.
Brilliant with words, gifted at trivia, and a devoted reader, Karen also found excitement in the world of Formula 1 racing. Beyond her passions, she was known for her kindness, gentleness, and grace. With a calming presence and a generous spirit, she always wished happiness for others and often placed their comfort before her own.
Karen will be remembered as sweet and gentle, leaving an irreplaceable void in the lives of all who were fortunate enough to know her.
A Celebration of Life for Karen will take place on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, at 1:00 at Mikkelson House, 2933 26 Avenue Southeast, Calgary Alberta T2B 0N5.
In lieu of flowers, we ask that donations be made to an organization of your choice.
