Judy Katherine Phyper

It is with a heavy heart and great sadness that we announce the passing of Judy Katherine Phyper (nee Schmaltz) on September 19, 2020 at the Rocky View Hospital in Calgary, Alberta with her loving family at her side following a hard fought and courageous battle with cancer.

Judy was born in Linden, Alberta on July 28, 1954 to Raymond and Isabelle (nee Ternes) Schmaltz and she grew up and spent her entire life in Calgary. Judy was a beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt, and friend that brought love and happiness wherever she went and to whoever she met. She will forever be remembered as someone who put her family first above all, especially her children, and as someone who was incredibly selfless and giving. Judy was a fighter who never gave up on everything she did and was a true inspiration for those who knew her.

She was predeceased by both of her parents, Raymond and Isabelle Schmaltz, and is survived by her loving husband Neil; her sons Evan (Zoraida Espinoza) and James (Abi); and her daughter Alyssa (Brett) Garneau all of Calgary. Judy is also survived by her three sisters, Marilyn (Joe) Bulman of Smoky Lake AB, Ilene Schmaltz (Darrel Ralph) of Calgary, and Mary-Anne (Duane) Paniec of Red Deer, AB; as well as six nieces and nephews, Christy (Paul) Isinger, Joey, Alexa, Tom and AnneMarie Bulman, and Kayla Paniec.

Tough and Strong right to the end. Judy, we all love and miss you so very much.

Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers at Canadian Martyrs Catholic Church (835 Northmount Drive NW) on Tuesday, September 29, 2020 at 5:00pm. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Canadian Martyrs Catholic Church on Wednesday, September 30, 2020 at 11:00am.
