Joseph MacNeil Obituary

Joe passed away on February 9, 2020 at the age of 86 years.

Born to Jim and Marjorie MacNeil on July 3, 1933 in Nova Scotia, Joe first moved to Saskatchewan and then settled in Calgary. He is survived by his loving wife Lydia; his sons Rodney (Jennine), James (Jenny), and Ed (Stephanie); his grandchildren Aria, Paisley, Kash and Rhett. Joe is also survived by his mother in law Irene Jones; his sisters Eileen Muise, Betty Garneau, Madge Gibeau, and Claire (Emile) Cretin; and his brothers George (Donna) and Wally (Lil). He was predeceased by his sister Helen Angove, his brother Cally, and his first wife Joyce Reid.

Joe spent 36 years working as an optician then at Summit Engineering. He was an active, dedicated member of K of C 1186 for 47 years – Financial Secretary (34 years), Purser for 4th Degree (18 years) as well as Recording Secretary for Chapter.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. James Catholic Church (5504 20 Street SW) on Tuesday, February 18, 2020 at 11:00am.

The family wish to thank the caring nurses of Unit 74 at the Rockyview General Hospital, and the staff at Chinook Care Centre where Joe has been for over a year.
