John Kronberger Obituary

John William Kronberger passed away peacefully on September 10, 2019 at the Rockyview Hospital at the age of 89. He was predeceased by; the love of his life, Helen Margaret Rose, who passed away in 1998; his brothers Frank and Henry and his sister Tina. John's parents passed away early in his life and he was raised by his older brothers and sister. At a young age, John started his adventure, travelling and working in the Yukon and Saskatchewan. In the mid 1950's John returned to the Regina area where he met the love of his life, Helen. John and Helen were married June 18, 1955. In 1956, they welcomed their first child Gerald, who passed away in 1957. In 1966 they had a second child, Dennis Allan, who is still living in Calgary, Alberta today. During his travels, John worked several odd jobs. In 1955 John was fortunate to get a position with the City of Regina. He continued to work various Heavy Equipment positions for the City until 1972, when Helen and John chose to relocate to Calgary, Alberta. John took a position as a Heavy Equipment Operator with LaFarge Construction. During his time in Calgary, John was always a member in good standing with the Operator Engineers Union 955. In the late 60's and early 70's, it was John’s passion was to be involved in hockey. At a local level, he volunteered as an equipment manager for the Regina Silver Fox hockey club. In 1972, he was able to attend a Canada Cup game in Winnipeg, and that was an absolute treat for John. When he moved to Calgary, his enthusiasm for hockey continued but was limited to taking his son to each and every game he played. Later in life, when Dennis and his wife Donna welcomed the arrival of Patrick William Thomas, John found a new passion in his grandson. Shortly after he laid Helen to rest in 1998, John moved in with Dennis, Donna and Patrick where he lived until his final year which was spent at the Chinook Care Centre. John's final resting place will be in the Regina Memorial Gardens where John will now be eternally together with his loving wife Helen Margaret Rose. John will always be remembered and loved by so many. Rest in Peace.
