Joaquina Machuca Salgado Obituary

On July 11, 2021, our grand mother Mama Pacita passed away at the Peter Lougheed Hospital at the age of 93 years. Our family was at her side at the time of passing. Mama Pacita was a widow but had been married to Jose Antonio Rodriguez in 1947. They had 6 children: Gloria, Noemi, Doris, Remberto, Angelica, and Rudy. She also adopted and raised Maritza, Kelvin and Arisally. Mama Pacita is survived by Gloria, Noemi, Remberto and Angelica, and by her many grand children, and many great grand children.

Mama Pacita was loved by so many because of her kindness, selfless, gracious, loving and supportive. She was a very bright light that been a guardian to the family that was always there to help in any way she could. Mama Pacita grew up at a farm in El Salvador. She loved life on the farm as she took care of her animals, but had to leave after a civil war broke out in El Salvador.

She loved to listen to music from Pedro Enfante, her favorite color was pink, and really enjoyed flowers. Mama Pacita was very simple. She did not care about materials, she only cared about her family, and ensured that everyone was always fed and safe. She used to joke around a lot with Heber, always ready with a comeback. Everyone that met Mama Pacita enjoyed her company because she had an aura of calmness, peace and genuine love.  Everyone could feel a warm connection to her as she cheered up everybody’s spirit. Mama Pacita will be dearly missed, but will never be forgotten, and we are very fortunate to have had her in our life.
