Jack Dondlinger Obituary

Jack was born in Calgary, where he lived his entire life. His father Henri was from Luxembourg and his mother Catherine was originally from Montreal. He has one brother, Joe. During his school years, Jack took part in many sports activities, excelling in track and football at St. Mary's Boys High School. Following high school, he joined the Calgary Bronks Junior Football Team, playing in the 1953 and 1954 seasons and later coaching for one season.

In 1955, Jack married Betty Burns and they became parents of four daughters: Sue, Cindy, Lori and Heidi. The family grew to include four sons-in-law: Lenn, Mike, Rick and Bob; seven grandchildren: Shea, Brenden, Stephen, Jennifer, Garrett, Dayna and Angeline; Shea's husband Jeff; Brenden's fiancée Alora; and two great-grandsons: Grayson and Lincoln.

Jack always took part in many of the girls' activities including coaching softball and as head coach of the Calgary Patriot Swim Club. He also taught adult swimming lessons at the South Y and coached the Calgary Masters Swim Club.

His working career was in the automobile industry at Ford Motor Company, Maclin Motors, and as General Manager of Eastside Dodge. After retiring in 1988, Jack and Betty spent many good times at their condo in Whitefish, Montana, skiing and golfing with family and friends. He even rode his bike from Calgary to Whitefish over Logan Pass. There also were several trips to Maui, their favourite vacation spot.

At the age of 86, Jack died on July 28, 2020 at Southwood Hospice having been diagnosed with cancer in 2017. Now he is at peace!

"Death is nothing else but going home to God, the bond of love will be unbroken for all eternity."
