Iris Hjorleifson Obituary

Iris was born in Langruth, Manitoba to Primrose and Gestur Eastman on September 27, 1924. As a young adult, she moved to Winnipeg where she met and married Ray William Hjorleifson on October 26, 1951. They lived in Winnipeg until 1968 when they moved to Calgary.

Iris always focused on the brighter side of life and was admired for her positive attitude and sense of humour. She loved musical gatherings with her family and friends and was known to play a few tunes on her harmonica. Laughter was her best medicine.

Iris Hjorleifson passed away on March 19, 2021 in Calgary at the age of 96 years. She is survived by her six sons, William (Lynne) of Calgary, Thomas (Patricia) of Canmore, Alan, Brian (Charlene), and Cliﬀord all of Calgary and Roger (Wendy) of Adelaide, Australia, 9 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews. Iris was predeceased by her husband Ray, her sisters Marty and Sue, and her brother Bud.

A Private Memorial Service will be held at a later date, once it is safe to gather our family and friends together. In lieu of flowers, please make donation to the charity of your choice in Iris' name.
