Irene Dorothy (Hallett) Storfie

It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Irene Storfie of Calgary, Alberta on Wednesday, September 8, 2021 at the age of 86. Irene will be lovingly remembered by her husband Marvin Storfie. They were together for 41 years and married for 36 years.  She is survived by her children Karen Hines (John), Carla Boland (Doug) and Ronnie Lacombe.  She is also survived by her 7 grandchildren, Alycia, Serena, Miranda, Jason, Ryan, Nancy and Dana; as well as 13 great grandchildren Skyla, Pierce, London, Phoenix, Chael, Jim, Sofie, Bruce, Jadon, Sydney, Rylan, Lily and Lane.  She also has 2 surviving sisters, Ruth Hallett and Diane Dardis (Pat). Irene was predeceased by her loving parents, Alfred and Alvina Hallett and her sister, Sharon Chuhie.

Irene was born in St. Boniface, Manitoba on December 18, 1934.  Irene started her working career at the Manitoba Telephone System.  When she moved to Calgary with her friend Marie, Irene started working for Safeway.  She started as a cashier, but with her hard work ethic, soon moved up to Head Cashier.  In her later years, she took on the position of File Maintenance where she worked some crazy hours but she enjoyed all her time at Safeway.  Irene retired from Safeway 24 years ago and took up the game of golf.  She met some wonderful ladies in this sport, some of whom stayed dear friends for many years.  Irene loved holidays with her friends and family.  Camping at Kananaskis was number one on her list.  This made her heart full to sit by the fire, laugh, tell stories, bike, hike, play games, cook and head to the golf course with grandkids in tow to see how many golf balls they could find and bring back to the campsite.  Her other favorite thing to do was to cruise with her loving husband.  They visited many amazing places, landed in many ports all over the world and met some wonderful people along the way.

A private family Celebration of Life will be held at her home.
