Irene Annette Monteith

With saddened hearts we announce the passing of Irene, our loving and devoted mother, grandmother and friend. Irene will be dearly missed and will live forever in our hearts. 

Born and raised in Timmins, Ontario with her 9 siblings and her parents,  Eva and Ovila Lapointe, Irene moved to Toronto, Ontario to pursue her dream of becoming a registered nurse, and studied and graduated at St Mary’s Hospital. She practiced as a RN for many years and had a deep passion for helping others.

Irene married and had two children, Marc William Monteith and Peter Douglas Monteith, and is survived by her siblings Rose Cote, Andre Lapointe, Jeanne Lathangue and Marguerite Beauchamp, and her three grandchildren Sage Monteith, Thyme Monteith and Kody Monteith.

Irene loved being a grandmother and participated in as many activities with her grandchildren as she could over the years and loved the family vacations.

She was passionate with her faith and proud of her family and wished she could have spent more time with them. Irene struggled with health issues throughout her life but she never complained about her situation and was active and present as much as she could be.

Irene’s children Marc and Peter would like to thank her siblings for all of their involvement over the years with Irene’s
care and wellbeing it did not go unnoticed.
