Hercules Eystathioy

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father and grandfather, Hercules Eystathioy, who left us peacefully at the age of 88.

Born in Greece in 1936, Hercules immigrated to Canada at the age of 28 in pursuit of a better life and new opportunities. After a few years in Canada, Ecaterini joined him, and they were married and built a beautiful life together and raised two wonderful loving daughters.

A true entrepreneur at heart, Hercules ventured into many different careers throughout his life. Among them, he ran a beloved pizza shop in the 1970s that earned citywide recognition for serving the best pizza — a point of pride he cherished for years. He also worked as a real estate agent and had his own travel agency. His work ethic, creativity, and passion for connecting with people left a lasting impression on everyone he met.

Beyond his accomplishments, Hercules was a man of simple joys. He found happiness in reading, and visiting with family and friends, and returning to his homeland of Greece, which always held a special place in his heart. Above all else, he adored his two grandchildren, who were the light of his life and brought him endless joy and laughter.

Hercules will be remembered for his warmth, his stories, his generosity, and the love he so freely gave to those around him. His legacy lives on in the hearts of his family and all who knew him.

He is survived by his loving wife, his two daughters, son-in-law, and his two cherished grandchildren. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hellenic Greek Community of Calgary.

A Funeral Service will be held at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church (1 Tamarac Crescent SW) on Wednesday, April 30, 2025 at 10:00 am with a Graveside Service to follow at Eden Brook Memorial Gardens at 12:00 pm.  A Reception will follow in the Hellenic Community Hall.
