Gregory Richard Fizzard

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Gregory Richard Fizzard at the age of 55, in Lethbridge, Alberta. Loving son of Louise Young (Stanley) (Southampton, ON) and Garfield Fizzard (deceased). He was the proud father of Sydney (Jelena) (Calgary, AB). He is survived by the forementioned, and his co-parent and special friend Elisabeth Pohl (Toronto, ON), brother Garry (Wendy) (Barrie, ON), proud uncle of Jacob, Zachary, Josh, Julia (Barrie) and Cynthia (Regina,SK).

Greg always had great love and care for his mother, always concerned about her health, always checking in on her well-being. On a previous visit he was very proud of his drone and took several pictures of the house which she will cherish forever. Many friends have commented on a picture of Greg with his mom that you could see the love for her in his face and eyes.

Greg was the best father one could ask for and never failed to make his son proud. From teaching him to play chess to exploring the great wilderness together, and everything in between, he was always there to share and explore the world’s beauty and complexities with his son. He was greatly proud of the adventures Syd would embark upon as he grew up and would perpetually motivate him to make the most of life. The time they spent together will never be forgotten.

Greg looked up to and loved his big brother Garry. They were buddies who had many great days riding their motorcross bikes on the trails around Barrie, Ontario. They would frequently enjoy the holidays together and always took care of one another.

A dreamer at heart, Greg imagined one day owning a small motel in the Alberta Rocky Mountains, where he would create a motorcycle café and repair shop—a place where fellow travelers could gather and share stories of the road. He was a kind soul with a generous spirit, always ready to lend a hand or share a laugh with those around him.

Greg was a brilliant man of deep emotions and big dreams, always searching for a place to call his own. He was looking forward to spending time fishing, camping, and skeet shooting this summer with Syd. Being in nature brought him peace.

We wish his spirit peace and love within the embrace of his ancestors. Bye for now Greg. Love from all who have crossed your path.

A Graveside Service will be held at Prairie Sky Cemetery (12350 84 St SE, Calgary) on Tuesday, March 11, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. For those unable to attend in person, there will be a livestream available below.
