Goretti 謝瑞清 Hung

Goretti Hung returned to the Lord peacefully on Saturday, April 15, 2023,  (eve of Divine Mercy Feast ) after a courageous fight with Cancer of the Pancreas. Her last five months’ stay at Dulcina Hospice, Calgary, was blessed with the tender loving care of doctors, nurses, and staff.

Goretti was born on July 12, 1953 in Hong Kong, emigrated to Canada in 1988, and moved to Calgary in 1990. She was predeceased by her son, Simon, and survived by her daughter, Grace. She will be fondly remembered by family, her two sisters in HK, cousins, nieces, nephews and close friends too numerous to mention.  

Goretti was a person of faith and served selflessly in Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, and visiting seniors and shut-ins in homes and care centers. She served the maximum term as president of the Legion of Mary. Goretti was an integral member of the Faith Sharing Group and was also a dedicated member of Honor God Our Father Prayer Group.

Her other interests were varied as well. She had a passion for Tai Chi exercise and dance; coached and enriched by Sifu, Jorie. She was also a budding artist under the guidance of her Art teachers.

Goretti’s passion for life was contagious. She will be remembered for her courage, kindness, dedication, discipline, and strength. She had also exhibited other qualities all her life, namely, very hardworking,  considerate to others, and capacity to forgive.

Funeral Mass for Ms. Goretti Hung (謝瑞清姊妹) will be celebrated at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church (400 Edmonton Trail NE) on Monday, May 8, 2023, at 11:00 am. A recording of the service is available below for those who were unable to attend.
