Gordon Charles Grudgfield

It is with deep sorrow we say goodbye to Gordon Charles Grudgfield. Gordon passed away at the age of 68 years at the Foothills Country Hospice, 11 months after his cancer diagnosis. He will be deeply missed by Joanne, his wife of 38 years and his children Holly Crone (grandson Mason), Paul (Paige and grandsons Carter and Jaxon), David and Adam.

Gordon will be fondly remembered by his brother Laurie (Winnie), mother-in-law Jeannette Banville, brothers-in-law Ray (Leslie), Robert and Norman Banville, sisters-in-law Ginette Banville, Lynne Hoffman, Michelle Bergen (John) and their families. Gordon was predeceased by his parents Ray and Alice Grudgfield, father-in-law Roland Banville, brother -in-law Randy Hoffman and nephew Ryan Parsons.

Gordon was born in Flin Flon, Manitoba and it is here he met and married Holly’s mother, Erin in 1969. He then moved to Calgary in 1972 and in 1980 met the love of his life, Joanne and they were married in 1981.

Gordon worked as a tin smith for Hudson Bay Mining & Smelting, then as an electronic technician, followed by an investment advisor but his most rewarding job was flying the friendly skies with WestJet from 2006 until his retirement in 2018.

He loved entertaining family and friends and was famous for his ceasars and “dad” jokes. He and Joanne spent many years travelling and the destinations he loved the most included an ocean and a beach. His other passions were photography, convertibles, motorcycles and, jazz.

We are truly grateful to Pat and Dr. Foster from Palliative Home Care and the staff and volunteers at the Foothills Country Hospice for their kindness and compassionate care in Gordon’s final weeks.

Funeral mass will be held at St. Bonaventure Catholic Church, 1600 Acadia Dr SE Calgary, on Tuesday, February 18, 2020 at 2:00 pm.
