Gloria Dawn Bryson

Gloria Dawn Bryson, lovingly known as Dawn, passed away peacefully in Calgary, Alberta, on June 3, 2026, just shy of her 91st birthday.

Born in Burnaby, British Columbia, Dawn spent most of her life in Calgary, where she built lasting friendships and touched the lives of many. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Robert, who passed away on June 8, 2024. It brings comfort to think of Dawn and Bobby together once again, hand in hand.

Dawn is survived by her daughters, Rhonda Francis (Bruce), Terri Dutka (Myron), and Lee-Anne Michayluk; her son, Michael Bryson (Rendalyn); her eight grandchildren; and her three great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her daughter, Lou Doornbos, and son-in-law, Ron Doornbos.

For many years, Dawn was the switchboard operator for the Calgary Stampede, serving as the welcoming voice and central connection point for the organization. She had a remarkable gift for conversation and made friends wherever she went. Through her work, she met countless celebrities and notable visitors, sharing stories and laughter with people from all walks of life. She especially enjoyed her friendships with the wrestlers of Stampede Wrestling and often fondly recalled conversations with entertainers such as Dean Martin, Michael Landon, and members of the Three Stooges. Although she worked with several organizations throughout her career, she often said that nothing quite compared to the colourful characters and camaraderie she found at the Stampede.

Dawn will be lovingly remembered for her quick wit, beautiful smile, and wonderful sense of humour. She had a flair for fashion and was rarely seen without her lipstick, carefully coordinated outfit, and signature sense of style. Most of all, she will be remembered for the warmth, kindness, and joy she brought to her family and friends.

She will be deeply missed, and her memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved her.
