Giovanna Privitera

Giovanna Privitera passed away peacefully on Tuesday February 27, 2018 in Calgary, Alberta. She was born on November 28, 1925 in Pachino Italy to Giuseppe Collura and Angelina Quartarone. She married Corrado Privitera and they had two daughters before they immigrated to Canada in 1958. Giovanna was married to Corrado for a wonderful 68 years before his passing in 2016. Left to remember Giovanna are her daughters Salvatrice (Sebastiano) Cultrera, and Angelina (Diego) Arfo, her brothers Corrado and Vicenzo Collura. Also left to honour her life are her many grandchildren, Corrado (Dawneen) Cultrera, Francesca (Jason) Simms, Angelo (Tammy) Cultrera, Corrado (Daniela) Arfo, Maria Rita (Giuseppe) Interlante, and Giovanna Arfo. Giovanna was also fortunate enough to have many great grandchildren. Jordan Cultrera, Alexander and Nikolas Simms, Apollo and Abella Cultrera, Roberta, Giulia, Diego Arfo, and Salvatore Pio Interlante. Giovanna loved to spend her time knitting shawls and sewing.  And you could always find her “At the Bay” with her Husband Corrado doing a little shopping and enjoying a cup of coffee.  No one ever went hungry at her house as it was always “Mangiare” “Mangiare”. And while in Italy, Giovanna loved to be at her beach house at Granelli. Those we love don’t go away, they walk beside us every day, unseen, unheard, but always near, still loved, still missed and very dear. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Mary, Mother of the Redeemer Catholic Church (1714 - 14 Ave NE) on Thursday, March 8, 2018 at 10:30 am.
