May 15, 1939 ~ March 21, 2021 (age 81)

Obituary

Georgios Fotopoulos passed away peacefully in his home in the arms of his loving family, on Sunday March 21, 2021 at the age of 81. Left to cherish his memory is his nurturing wife Alexandra, his beloved children Konstantinos, Georgia and Ioannis.  His beautiful grandchildren, Dominique, Alexandra, Apollo, Ksenia, and Eros, his loving son-in-law Jeffery Z Poulin, his loving daughters-in-law, Kacey Fotopoulos and Adna Peixoto; and many nephews and nieces. (whom he loved to spoil with chocolate bars and money). George Fotopoulos has also left behind his cherished and devoted eldest brother, Athanasios Fotopoulos who loved him and protected him as a father would, throughout his lifetime.

George Fotopoulos was a simple man who was hard working and dedicated his lifetime to his family. He was strong, with a zest for life. He was born in Greece, he was able to travel to various countries, got married in Chile and eventually he settled in Calgary.

George had a passion for building, and worked as a construction worker all his life.  He poured his heart and soul into every project he worked on. He was a master at his craft, and was able to pass along and teach the trade to family and others. Today, his spirit lives on all around us and in our city by all the beautiful projects he helped create and build; From the roads we drive upon, to the bridges we cross, to the beautiful buildings and skyscrapers we see in our skyline, the libraries, museums, homes, and shopping malls we drive by and visit.  He has definitely left an everlasting mark on our City that brings us great pride and joy.

Georgios, our father,  “Terri,”  “Paterako,”  “Daddy,” “Georgie mou” and “Papou” You lived the good life, and as your family we are honored and grateful for everything you have done for us.  We thank you…you will be so missed but forever in our hearts and memories. May you rest in peace with our beloved Lord.
