George Leikeim Obituary

It is with great sadness that we disclose the passing of George Leikeim on October 29, 2025. He leaves behind to mourn his wife of 64 years Helen.   His children Kenny, David and Debbie (Jamie). His grandchildren Ashley (Matt), Joshua (Lauren), Rachel *Kaine*,  Isaac (Nicky), Benjamin, Gavin, Mathias and Alexis. His great-grandchildren Emerson, Eloise and Sawyer as well as his sister Helena.   He was predeceased by his son Steven his parents Fred and Helena Leikeim, his brothers Edgar, John, Peter, and Fred as well as his sister Mary.

George was born and raised in Goodsoil, Saskatchewan. In 1955 he joined the Royal Canadian Air Force, where he meet and married his wife Helen in Senneterre, Quebec.  They served in many different communities from British Columbia to Quebec as a radar technician until 1980 when he retired in Alsask, Saskatchewan with the rank of Master Warrant Officer.

After his military career he worked from 1981 to 1996 for GE Canada has an X-ray technician. 

In his spare time he loved gardening, curling and playing crib on Saturday afternoons with his legion friends. He also liked spending time at Christina Lake where he had bought land and built his own cabin.

He also enjoyed volunteering at the 285 Legion, especially helping with the poppy campaign and children’s Christmas party, as well as helping out at St Gerard’s church as an usher and wherever else he could.

During his retirement years he enjoyed relaxing at Christina Lake and taking numerous trips and cruises. George and Helen would come back with wonderful stories and pictures of their adventures

George loved spending time with his family especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  He was always willing to help out whenever he could.

His family would like to thank Intercare Chinook (Fosters Way) for the compassionate care George received and helping to make it possible for him to spend his final years with his wife Helen when it was her turn to enter long term care.

Prayers will be held at St. Gerard's Catholic Church (8944 Elbow Drive SW) on Tuesday, November 11, 2025 at 7:30 pm.  Funeral Mas s will be celebrated at St. Gerard's Catholic Church on Wednesday November 12, 2025 at 11:00 am.
