It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, and grandfather George Anagnostakos on October 16, 2020. George was born on June 7, 1942 in Agios Georgios Arkadias, Greece and moved to Calgary, Alberta, Canada in 1962 and married the love of his life in 1967. He was predeceased by his son Christos; his parents Christos and Stamatina; his brothers Themis and Haralambos; as well as his brother-in-law, niece and nephew.
Left behind to mourn is George's loving wife and best friend of 53 years, Dimitra Toula; his four daughters, Stamatina (Don), Angela (Tim), Christina (Chris) and Joanna (Jason); as well as his grandchildren, Joshua, Marysa, Georgina, George, Julianna, Demitra and Kathleen.
George was a proud member of the Greek Orthodox Church Community. He loved to get together with friends over coffee enjoying the many stories and laughs they shared. George was known to many people as a kind, sweet and gentle soul. He touched the lives of many and will be deeply missed and loved by those who knew him.
Due to these unprecedented times, the prayer and funeral services will be held privately.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to The Canadian Mental Health Association - Calgary Region or The Kidney Foundation of Canada, Southern Alberta Branch Office.
A special thank you to Dr. Ambrish Pandya and Dr. Sophia Chou for their exceptional care over the years and to the doctors, nurses and support staff on Unit 37, Special Services Building at the Foothills Medical Centre for their care and support during this time.
