Genevieve Mary Margaret Tschritter (nee Rabin) passed away on Monday October 27, 2025 at the age of 88 years. Born in Radville, Saskatchewan, Genevieve was the fourth of five children. She spent her formative years in the convents at Forget and Montmartre, Saskatchewan with the Sisters of Our Lady of the Holy Cross (Notre Dame de la Croix). She moved to Calgary to accept an au pair position in 1955 at the age of 17. She went on to work as a nursing aid with the Red Cross blood donor clinics. She married Carl Tschritter in Medicine Hat, Alberta on August 17, 1957. They purchased their home in Calgary in 1959 where she resided until her passing. She was the proud mother of three children: Vance (Kelli), Michele (Darren), and Carey (Joanne). She will be deeply missed by her seven grandchildren: Caitlin (Feo), Dana, Daniel (Jackie), Ryan (Olivia), Sydney, Owen, and Kimberly.
Genevieve was an avid gardener and an active member of Holy Name Parish where she had a lifelong love of singing in the choir. She also spent many years volunteering with the Catholic Women’s League (CWL). She loved bowling, baseball, and dancing.
Genevieve and Carl were ardent Calgary Flames fans…provided that there was Spanish coffee and chicken fingers for Genevieve in the Saddledome during one of the game periods. She was not too bothered about listening to the post-game commentary all the way home though!
Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers at Evan J. Strong Funeral Services South (5502 2 Street SW) on Wednesday, November 5, 2025 at 7:00 pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Holy Name Catholic Church (2223 24 Street SW) on Thursday, November 6, 2025 at 11:00 am.
