Genevieve Running Rabbit (nee Dodging Horse)

It’s with sadness we announce the passing of Genevieve Desma Running Rabbit (nee Dodging Horse) of Tsuut’ina Nation on Tuesday, August 31, 2021 at the age of 44 years.

Genevieve graduated from the Bullhead Adult Learning Centre in June 2013 with the Academic Medal of Honor Govenor General Award.

She had a very kind, loving nature and made many friends wherever she went.

Gen, will lovingly be remembered by her husband, Charlie. As well as her children Zared (Kaysha), Xao, Yvaughn, Vance, Urijah, Tarver, and Saber Dodging Horse. Grandchildren: Katteri, Nova and Cayzen.  

She also leaves behind her mother, Delphine Right Hand, and brothers Lee (Brenda) Dodging Horse, Whitman Dodging Horse; Paternal uncles Michael Right Hand, Dean Simeon, Richard (Florence) Right Hand, Jacob Many Heads, Marcell (Delores) Right Hand, Paternal Aunts: Bev (Wayne) Leather, Gina (Lance) Flamand, and Novena (Shaun) Flynn. Maternal Uncles: Marvin (Marie) Dodging Horse, Randy Dodging Horse, Steve Dodging Horse, Tim Dodging Horse, and Billy Dodging Horse. Maternal Aunts: Karen Dodging Horse, Cheryl (Ray) Dodging Horse, TJ Wadsworth, Val Dodging Horse, Jamie (Keith) Left Hand, Sher Whitney, and Tracey Dodging Horse. Traditional Family: Liz & Alvin Big Crow, Denise (Craig) Weasel Head, Yolanda Waterchief, Clifton Waterchief, Lori (Sean) Cutter, Natasha (Deon) White Man. Mother In-law; Vivian Running Rabbit. Best Friends: Missy Meguinis & Jill First Rider. Numerous adopted nephews and nieces. Extended family; Dodging Horse, Crow Child, Meguinis, Starlight, Wadsworth, Wolf Child, Eagle Plume, Right Hand, Waterchief, Many Bears, Poor Eagle, Stud Horse, Old Woman, McMaster, Spotted One, Olds 

Gen’s dad, Gary Right Hand and big brother Clint Dodging Horse predeceased her. As well as grandparents; Richard (Yvonne & Ida) Dodging Horse, Jim & Katie Dodging Horse, Georgina Many Bears, Arthur James Water Chief, Francis & Marie Waterchief.  Uncles; Art Right Hand, Tim Spotted One, Gregory Young, Jerry Daniels, Ronald Dodging Horse. Aunts; Jean Many Heads, Gail Right Hand, Deborah Spotted One, Marilyn Right Hand, Joyce Daniels, Margarita Flynn, Mildred Simeon, and Stephanie Twins. Sister in-law: Lenora Running Rabbit.
 
Gen had numerous friends and family, we apologize for anyone we may have missed.

Wake Services will be held at the residence of Delphine Right Hand (Tsuut’ina, Alberta) on Monday, September 6, 2021 at 3:00pm for family and 6:00pm for the public.  A funeral service will follow Tuesday, September 7, 2021 at 12:00pm at Bullhead Hall. Graveside services to follow at Tsuut’ina Cemetery.
