Gene Chan Obituary

In loving memory of our dear Papa, Gene Chan, affectionately known as Generoso Patrocinio Henry Miguel Delfinado Chan before he embarked on a new chapter in Canada, we gather to celebrate a life richly lived and profoundly cherished.

Gene, born to Dolorina and Sixto Chan in Bacnotan La Union, Philippines, was the youngest among his brothers and the second youngest among his siblings, left an indelible mark on the hearts of all who had the privilege to know him.

Gene’s journey started in the Philippines, surrounded by the love of his parents, Dolorina and Sixto Chan, in the vibrant community of Bacnotan La Union. His passion for learning led him to pursue Mechanical Engineering at Saint Louis University in Baguio, where his dedication and perseverance shone brightly.

From his early days as a simple kid to his later years as a wise patriarch, Gene remained the silent observer, content to sit back and listen to the stories shared among family and friends. His quiet presence spoke volumes, offering solace and support to those around him and embodying the timeless wisdom of a man who understood the value of listening.

Gene’s love for music was as boundless as his kindness, with a penchant for classics from John Denver, Kenny Rogers, and many more. His soul found solace in the melodies that filled his home, and his love for music became a cherished bond shared with his children.

Gene found his greatest joy in the company of his beloved children, Ryan and Russel, and his adored grandchildren, Bryan, Stephanie, Cassandra, and Charlene. Their laughter and love brought him indescribable joy, and he held every precious moment close to his heart. Gene’s affection encompassed his siblings, whom he cherished dearly.

As the family’s handyman, he was always ready to lend a helping hand whenever needed, whether fixing things around the house or tinkering with cars. His reliability and resourcefulness endeared him to all who knew him.

As we bid farewell to Papa Gene, let us take comfort in the memories we hold dear and the legacy of love and kindness he leaves behind. Though he may be gone, his spirit lives on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him, guiding us with his gentle wisdom and unwavering compassion.

Rest in peace, papa Gene. Your memory will forever be an inspiration in our lives.
