It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Dad and Grandpa. Francis (Frank) Kieran O’Brien passed away peacefully on March 23, 2026, at the age of 92.
Frank was born in Calgary, Alberta to James and Margaret O’Brien on September 27, 1933. He is survived by his treasured children, Todd O’Brien (Cathy) and Lori Lynn Nicholl (Lowell). His beloved grandchildren, Sean O’Brien, Darrin O’Brien and Taylor Oliverio (Joseph), and his step grandchildren and great grandchildren, Michael Nicholl (Alicia), Melissa Nicholl (Charles), Charlie, Harlow, and Berlin.
Frank is predeceased by the love of his life, Janet Helma O’Brien, his parents, James and Margaret O’Brien, his brothers, Jim, Joseph, Desmond, Patrick and Benny, sisters Sheila, Maureen, Phyllis, and Anne. He is survived by his sisters Rita Bisson and Peggy Pooke. Frank leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and friends that brought immense joy to his life.
Frank was a devoted and hardworking man who took great pride in providing for his family. His strong work ethic and unwavering dedication were evident in everything he did. A man of immense faith, he loved his church deeply and lived his life guided by his beliefs.
Above all, he showed his family tremendous love and support, always putting their needs before his own. He embraced life with joy and enthusiasm, enjoying every moment to the fullest. Known for his warm personality and welcoming spirit, he was truly the life of the party who formed lasting friendships wherever he went.
He was an incredible man whose love, strength and kindness will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
A funeral will be held on Thursday, March 26, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. followed by a reception in the church hall at 12:00 p.m. at St. Cecilia’s Roman Catholic Church (321 90th Avenue SE).
