Fortunato (Nato) Priolo

It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of our father Fortunato (Nato) Priolo, of Calgary, AB, on Sunday, August 4,2024, at the age of 76.

Born on October 1, 1947, in Pietrapennata, Reggio Calabria, Italy, Nato immigrated to Canada in the early 1970's. He started in Kimberley, BC, then moved to Calgary, AB, where he started his life and built his family and where he worked at the General Hospital for 20+ years, as a Dietary Aide.

Nato was proud of his children and grandchildren; they were the love of his life. He was a gentle, kind man who enjoyed spending time with family and friends, drinking espresso, playing pool and playing Italian card games, especially Scopa.

Nato is survived by his children, Stefano Priolo, and Mariangela (Sam) Marra; grandchildren, Mario and Alessio Marra; his sisters, Angelina Cristiano and Francesca Stellitano (Nino); along with his nieces and many cousins.

Nato was predeceased by his parents, Fortunata Cristiano and Stefano Priolo.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Mary, Mother of the Redeemer Catholic Church (1714 14 Ave NE) on Friday, August 9, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will be one hour prior to Mass at 10:00 a.m. Graveside Service to follow at Queen’s Park Cemetery (3219 4 Street NW). Reception to follow at Mary, Mother of the Redeemer’s Lower Hall.
