The family of Florence Vera Miller are sad to announce her passing on Friday, January 27th, 2023, at the age of 96 years.
Florence was born near Camrose, Alberta on June 18, 1926. She was the second daughter of Ted and Alma Miller. Florence pursued a career in nursing, graduating from Misericordia Hospital School of Nursing, Edmonton, as a Registered Nurse in 1952. Her nursing career took her to hospitals in many places, first to Winnipeg, then Minneapolis, Texas, Oregon and California. In retirement, Florence lived in Idaho and Minnesota, providing companionship and care for a dear friend. In 2010, she returned to Calgary to be close to her family where, for the last several years, she enjoyed the ‘easy life’, residing at AgeCare Walden Heights in Calgary.
Throughout her life, Florence exercised her faith in God by generously giving of herself and her talents to others. She loved caring for newborn and premature babies during her nursing career, often telling the stories of her experiences. Florence had a beautiful singing voice, was an expert crocheter, and a natural artist. We will miss her quick sense of humour and good-natured jokes.
Florence is predeceased by her three sisters, Irene, Joyce and Vernial and her brother Laurie. She is survived by her brother Leroy (Ethel) Miller of Red Deer, Alberta, and many nieces, nephews and friends.
The family wishes to thank the staff and residents at AgeCare Walden Heights for their compassionate care and friendship.
A graveside service will be held at a later date at the Century Meadows Cemetery near Camrose, Alberta.
