Evangelia Kokkinou

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Evangelia Kokkinou, On April 24, 2026, at the age of 77 years.

Evangelia was born on the island of Samos, Greece, and later moved with her parents, Katerina and Leonidas, and her seven siblings to Corinthos. At just fourteen, she traveled to Athens to study cosmetology—an early sign of the determination and independence that would shape her life.

In 1967, Evangelia immigrated to Canada, where she raised her children and eventually opened her own business, Spruce Cliff Hairstyling Salon. She took great pride in her craft and found joy in the friendships she built with her clients. Her warmth, professionalism, and genuine care made her a beloved and respected member of the community.

Above all, Evangelia devoted herself to her family. She shared a special bond with her granddaughter Evangelia. Each moment spent with her was a delightful dance of love, joy and creativity. She was a gifted cook and a gracious homemaker, known for her kindness, humility, and gentle humor. She gave freely of herself, always placing the needs of others before her own. Her presence brought comfort, stability, and love to everyone, fortunate enough to be part of her life.

She is survived by her two sons Christos and Constantinos (Dina) and granddaughter Evangelia.

She will be deeply missed and forever cherished.

Almighty God, I pray that our departed loved one may experience perfect peace in Your eternal presence. Remove all fear, suffering, and sorrow from her soul, and surround her with Your comforting light. May she rest joyfully in Your kingdom, free from all earthly troubles. Strengthen our hearts as we grieve, reminding us that Your peace surpasses all understanding. Let her spirit rejoice forever in Your love and mercy, knowing she is safe in Your eternal care. Amen.

A Prayer Service will be held at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church (1 Tamarac Crescent SW, Calgary, AB) on Tuesday May 5, 2026 at 6:00 p.m.

A Funeral Service will be held at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church on Wednesday May 6, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. A Graveside Service will follow at Edenbrook Memorial Gardens.
