Elizabeth (Betty) Jack Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce Betty’s passing.  Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother, she was predeceased by her husband Dyson Revitt in 1974, husband Jim Jack in 1994 and brother Cecil Briggs in 2019.  Betty was born in Leader, Saskatchewan.  She moved to Calgary with her mother and brother in the early 1940’s.  After attending Western Canada High School, Betty began a career in dental nursing and was a charter member and president of the Alberta Dental Nurses Association in the 50’s.  After many years working with Dr. Gordon Swann, Betty joined Dyson at Dyson Revitt Jewellers and thus began her second career. In the mid 70’s, she was the first female member of the board of the Canadian Jewellers Association.  Jim joined Betty at Revitt Jewellers in 1976 and together they ran the business until their retirement in 1990.  Betty spent her retirement years travelling, first throughout North America with Jim in their motorhome and after his passing, she cruised the world.  When she wasn’t travelling she enjoyed spending time at her homes in Calgary and Arizona.  Betty loved to collect!  Books, music, figurines, and, as a result of blended family, children - all of whom she loved as her own.  Her vast collection of lifelong friends and admirers attest to her innate kindness, caring and compassion.  She was a consummate lady and beneath her gentle, humble exterior laid amazing strength.  She lived her life with dignity, love, integrity and respect.  An example to all.  Her family extends sincere thanks to the staff of Mayfair Care Centre.  It brought great comfort to see that she was happy and well cared for over the past three years.  As per her wishes, there will no memorial service.  Memories and condolences may be shared with Betty’s family through www.evanjstrong.com.  If so desired, memorial tributes in Betty’s name may be made directly to the Alzheimer Society www.alzheimercalgary.ca

Her Journey’s Just Begun

By an Unknown Author

Don’t think of her as gone away
her journey’s just begun
life holds so many facets
this earth is only one.
Just think of her as resting
from the sorrows and the tears
in a place of warmth and comfort
where there are no days or years.
Think how she must be wishing
that we could know today
how nothing but our sadness
can really pass away.
And think of her as living
in the hearts of those she touched
for nothing loved is ever lost
and she was loved so much.
