Elizabeth Anne Buchan died in peace and love on November 18, 2022. She devoted her 88 years to God, her family, her home, and her friends, extending grace and kindness to everyone around her. Anne grew up in Edmonton and then in Dawson Creek, B.C., in a close-knit family that she adored. Only Walter (“Buck”) Buchan could have charmed her enough to make a move to Calgary, where they wed in 1955 and had a wonderful marriage until Walt’s death in 2002.
Anne had physical struggles that were hard to imagine when you encountered her serene smile, heard her gorgeous soprano voice, or experienced her warm hospitality. She was a valiant mother, grandmother, and, ultimately, great-grandmother. She lived to rejoice in the birth of six great-grandchildren in the last five years, who loved her as “GG”.
Anne is survived by her children Judith (James) Robinson, Wally (Linda) Buchan, and David Buchan (Mark Travis); her grandchildren, Lyndsey (Caleb) Delamont, Geoff (Amy) Buchan, and Rachel Robinson; and her great-grandchildren, Rosie, Jack, and Penny Delamont and Callum, Asher and Millie Buchan; as well as her beloved sister Dorothy, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Walt; sister Mary; brother Jack; and her parents Christina and Lyal Dingle.
Thank you to Glendyne Loewen, her cherished friend and constant support, and many thanks to the staff and residents of Journey Club and the staff of Southwood Hospice for their kind care.
A Memorial Service will be held at First Alliance Church Deerfoot (12345 40 Street, SE) on Friday, December 2, 2022, at 1:00 pm. Anne’s friend and pastor, the Rev. Ray Matheson, will officiate. If friends so desire, memorial donations may be made to Compassion Canada.
