Eileen Mae (Jarvis) Murphy

Eileen Murphy, beloved wife of Terrance Murphy, of Calgary, Alberta passed away on Monday, August 30, 2021, at the age of 86 years. Eileen was born in Drumheller, AB on July 27, 1935.

She had her entire schooling in Stavely, Alberta and moved to Calgary in 1953 to go to business college. Eileen married Terry Murphy on August 4, 1956 and just celebrated their 65 wedding anniversary. Her first job was with Amerada Petroleum as the secretary for the chief accountant. When the youngest of her four children started grade one, Eileen returned to work in the business office at the Rimbey, Alberta hospital. After moving to Rocky Mountain House, Alberta she worked for the RCMP. Upon returning to Rimbey, Alberta, Eileen managed a local law firm until her retirement in 1981.

She was devoted to her family and a treasured friend to many. Eileen very much enjoyed her hobbies: sewing, quilting and needle work. Travel, charity work and the Catholic Church were also big parts of her life.

Besides her loving husband Terry, Eileen is survived by her son Darrel (Terrie) Murphy (Sooke, BC); daughter Debbie (Mick) Taylor (Strathmore, AB); and daughter Sandra Murphy (Calgary, AB). Eileen’s four grandchildren Clark (Breane) Andrews, Janelle (Cory) Lien, Steven (Dasha) Jones and Laura (Stuart) Reid were a huge source of pride and enjoyment. The arrival of Eileen’s four great grandchildren Hudson, Blake, Archer and Sophie brought a welcomed joy to her life. Eileen was predeceased by her son Kevin Murphy in 2014.

Funeral Mass will be held at St. Peter’s Roman Catholic Church (541 Silvergrove Dr NW) on September 10, 2021 at 1:00 pm. If friends so desire, memorial tributes can be made to YWCA or the Arthritis Society.
