Douglas (Doug) Boyler

Douglas (Doug) Boyler passed away on July 3, 2025, in Calgary, Alberta at the age of 74. Born in Regina, Saskatchewan, predeceased by his parents, Keith and Joyce Boyler. Doug is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Shannon (nee Watson), son Tim (Angie), daughter Tamara (Scott), grandchildren Katelyn, Marisa, Orion, Jacqueline, brother Larry (Pam) Boyler, nieces and extended family.

After working in various fields including oil and gas, Doug went back to school as a young father and worked hard to sustain the family while obtaining his Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering at the University of Calgary. He had a long-respected career in Calgary’s oil and gas industry, including Nexen and the Alberta Energy and Utilities Board and a proud lifetime member of APEGA.

Doug’s guiding light shaped us with his gentle wisdom and patient, steady hand. He had a passion for cars, politics, listening to the news, and he loved tinkering in the garage. He will be remembered for his ability to remain calm and objective, his strong support for his children’s endeavors, and his wonderful cooking specialties. Doug will be deeply missed and never forgotten.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Borman and NP. Sandy Anderson for their ongoing care of Doug over these past few years.

In celebration of the truly extraordinary man Doug was, a memorial service will be held at Evan J. Strong Funeral Services North (3625 12 Street NE) in Calgary on Monday, July 14, 2025 at 1:00 pm.
