Dorothy 'Joyce' Birston

The family of Joyce Birston is saddened to share the news of her peaceful passing on December 17, 2021, at Bethany Care Home in Calgary.

Born in Claresholm, Alberta, a rural community in southern Alberta where her father had homesteaded, she later moved to Calgary where she attended the Henderson School of Business. Joyce married Tom Birston and they had four sons.

She worked in various retail jobs and as a nanny in Calgary. She loved baking, the outdoors and was also an active member in the Legion.

Joyce was predeceased by her parents Ted and Lilly Anderson; siblings Lawerence and Leroy; husbands Tom Birston and Bill Birston; son Barry Birston. She is survived by her children Walter, Robert and Ronald; grandchildren Michelle Birston, Robyn Birston, Shawn Birston, and Brent Birston; and great-grandchild Madison Birston.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
