Dorothy “Ann” Langen passed away peacefully surrounded by her children on January 14, 2024. She was a dedicated mother of seven: Sharon, Robert, Daniel, Douglas, Carolyn, Jacqueline, and Juliana. She was also a loving grandmother to five grandchildren: Katie, John, Scarlett, Maya and Thomas.
Born as Dorothy Anne Kalyn into a proud Ukrainian family, she was known and loved by everyone as Ann. She was the daughter of Mary Kalyn (Kashuba) and Michael Kalyn. Ann is survived by her siblings John, Lorraine, Irene, and Jeanne.
She married Richard Langen on January 22, 1977. She was predeceased by her husband on April 29, 2023.
Ann faced many challenges in her life but she always remained strong and resilient in the face of adversity. One of Ann’s greatest gifts was fostering interests in others and showing them the value of education. She believed that knowledge was a powerful tool that could transform lives and open doors to new opportunities. Ann encouraged her children and many others in her life to pursue their dreams and never stop learning. Her legacy will continue to live on through the lives of those she touched.
Ann will be deeply missed but her memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. May she rest in peace.
A Funeral Mass will be held at Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Ukrainian Catholic Church on Monday, January 22, 2024 at 10:00 am. Friends and family are invited to stay for a luncheon following the service. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations to the church.
