Donald "Don" John Armit

Following a sudden but brief illness, Don Armit at the age of 79, passed away peacefully with his daughters by his side, at the Vulcan Medical Centre in Vulcan, Alberta on November 25, 2022.

Don was born to Jack and Marg Armit in May of 1943 and grew up in Calgary, Alberta. The oldest of four children, Don was a finish carpenter all of his working career. He learned how to parachute in the army and continued that passion after returning home from the army. He developed his passion as an accomplished skydiver and competed both in Canada and the United States. Later in life, he continued his passion for high-flying sports and transitioned from skydiving to paragliding.  He was an avid fisherman both an angler and fly fisherman. Don enjoyed big game hunting and generally being in the outdoors.

Don will be remembered by his daughters Amber (Matt) Vergo, and Crystal (Shawn) Earle along with his grandchildren Jake, Rylen, Ben, Sawyer and Cameron. He is also survived by his sister Marilyn Gordon-Cooper and brothers Doug (Nancy) Armit and Steve (Nancy) Armit, and numerous nieces and nephews. He will be dearly missed by cherished friends Ken, Anna, and Melissa Volk, and their extended family.

Don is predeceased by his parents Jack and Marg Armit and his brother-in-law Alan Gordon-Cooper.

A Memorial Service will be held at Evan J. Strong Funeral Services North (3625 12 St NE) on Monday December 5, 2022 at 1:00 pm.
