Donald Russel Lyons, a cherished and caring person to everyone, left us on September 22, 2024. Born on November 8, 1955, in Calgary, Don lived a life purely dedicated to family and friends; and with his constant positive attitude, he was a great mentor to us all.
Don is survived by his wife, Colleen, his siblings, Dave (Don’s twin brother), Phil (Wanda), Jo-Anne and Jeanette (Adrian); his children, Dean, Candice (Bob), Christopher, Janay and Danielle (Francis). A very special mention to Sandra and Bill Townsend, sister and brother in law to Don. He is predeceased by parents Zelda and Joseph (Joe) and first wife, Sharon Lyons.
Don is also survived by many nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and extended family.
Working as a Steel Fabricator since he graduated from SAIT, Don became very well known as expert in his field. He was definitely the go to person at the shop.
Don’s life included, hunting, fly fishing, an avid member of a pool league, above all, Don’s ultimate passion was in restoring vintage Volvo classic cars. You couldn’t think about Don without thinking classic Volvo.
Don had a great love for fine dining and had quite the sweet tooth, we believe this runs in both sides of the family.
While our hearts mourn the loss, we can take comfort in knowing Don is no longer suffering. Our lives are forever better because Don has been a part of it.
Funeral Service will be held at Evan J Strong Funeral Services North (3625 12 Street NE) on Tuesday, October 15, 2024 at 11:00 a.m., reception to follow. Graveside Service to follow reception at Eden Brook Memorial Gardens.
