Devin Parker Vriend

Devin Parker Vriend was born on July 22, 2000, in Red Deer, Alberta, and passed away in a tragic skiing accident in Kananaskis Country on February 28, 2025. Devin regularly enjoyed skiing and spent the morning happily skiing with his friends by his side.

Devin will be remembered for his kind heart and compassionate soul. He was loyal to those he loved and brought laughter into every room he was a part of. His protective and all-consuming hugs will be greatly missed. Devin had a deep love for agriculture and was hardworking in his career. He had a passion for sports and adventure in every season, including volleyball, curling, skiing, and baseball.

Devin will be remembered by his young, beautiful wife, Josie. He is survived by his parents, David and Jody; siblings Emily and Ryan, Daniel and Courtney, Mirtalem, Biniyam, and Liyu. He is also survived by his grandparents, Jim and Marilyn Vriend. He will be greatly missed by his many uncles, aunts, and cousins from the East to the West. He will also be missed by his many friends, whom he considered family.

Devin is predeceased by his grandpa Dan Haan (2003), his father-in-law Vincent MacDonald (2008), his great aunt Irene Walberg (2023), and his cousin Shawn Walberg (2025).

There will be a public viewing, open to family and friends at Evan J. Strong Funeral Services North (3625 12 St NE) on Thursday, March 6, 2025 from 7:00pm - 8:30pm.

A Memorial Service will be held at Southview Alliance Church (20200 Walden Blvd SE, Calgary, AB) on Monday, March 10, 2025, at 1:00 pm. In honor of Devin, please dress casual and country or wear a jersey.
